The Morning Watch: ‘Black Panther’ Technology, Harrison Ford Added to ‘Solo’ & More

Solo Trailer with Harrison Ford

The Morning Watch is a recurring feature that highlights a handful of noteworthy videos from around the web. They could be video essays, fanmade productions, featurettes, short films, hilarious sketches, or just anything that has to do with our favorite movies and TV shows.

In this edition, Black Panther star Letitia Wright breaks down the technology used by her character Shuri. Plus, one Star Wars fan decided to digitally insert Harrison Ford into the trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and John Mulaney talks about the lessons he learned from writing for comedy legends who hosted Saturday Night Live.

To help promote the release of Black Panther on Blu-ray and DVD this week, cast member Letitia Wright stopped by Vanity Fair to break down Wakandan technology. The actress who brought Shuri to life talks about the Black Panther suit, magnetic levitation trains, Shuri’s gauntlets, and the Kimoyo beads.

Next up, The Hollywood Reporter called our attention to a fanmade video by Nick Acosta that takes Harrison Ford’s face from various movies and plasters it on Alden Ehrenreich’s body in the trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. The result is kind of horrifying and weird, especially when American Graffiti footage is used as a substitute for a speeder chase.

Finally, John Mulaney sat down with Sam Jones for a new episode of Off Camera, and in a quick clip from the episode, the comedian talks about the lessons learned from trying to write sketches for comedy legends who would host the show.
