Watch ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Teaser; Here’s Everything We Know
Get your wands ready! The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald arrives tomorrow, but we’ve got a teaser ahead of its release. If you’ve been wondering if your use of “Wizarding World” as a franchise name for all things Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts was correct, this thing has an official logo for the designation. And yes, all those wands have significance.
As for the content of the actual teaser, there’s not much except a look at a page from the original Harry Potter book and a bunch of smoke — all of which might just be part of the Wizarding World production logo. Also, shots of fans wielding their own wands, as part of the #WandsReady social promotion tie-in. We’ll have more to say about the movie when the actual trailer arrives.
Watch the teaser of the trailer below followed by everything we know about the promotion and the upcoming sequel.

Who is back for the new movie?
Eddie Redmayne, who led us on the 2016 adventure of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, returns as famed wizard and writer Newt Scamander. He is again joined by new friends Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler as fellow wizards Tina and Queenie and the no-mag Jacob, respectively. Also reprising their villainous roles are Johnny Depp as the titular Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald and Ezra Miller as Credence.
Who are the new additions?
Jude Law is the biggest newcomer to the cast of the sequel, portraying a young Albus Dumbledore, the iconic Hogwarts headmaster everyone knows and loves from the Harry Potter series. Also, Zoe Kravitz plays Newt’s old flame, Leta Lestrange, while Callum Turner plays his brother, Theseus. Rounding out the main ensemble is Claudia Kim as a circus star named Maledictus.
What is the plot this time?
As we saw at the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Grindelwald has been discovered pretending to be Auror Percival Graves, and he’s now in custody… But not for long. The official synopsis from Warner Bros.:
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
Who is the director of the sequel?
David Yates, who also helmed the first movie as well as the last four of the Harry Potter movies.
Who are the writers this time?
J.K. Rowling, creator and author of the Harry Potter books and screenwriter of the first Fantastic Beasts.
When does it come out?
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hits theaters everywhere on November 16.
