“NCIS” is moving on without Cote de Pablo.
The actress announced last month that she is leaving the top-rated CBS drama and reportedly turned down two sizable raises. Now the network and the show’s producers are casting a successor for de Pablo’s character, Ziva, TVLine reports.
The character will be named Bishop and is a twentysomething female character who is “bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward. She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She’s traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home.”
Fans can look for Ziva (de Pablo) in the first two episodes of “NCIS” Season 11. The actress has been on the show for eight years. The new character Bishop, meanwhile, starts working in October and will begin appearing in mid-season episodes around January. Until Bishop joins the team, several rotating characters will sub for Ziva. “NCIS” is television’s No. 1 scripted drama and pulls in 20 million viewers a week.
“NCIS” Season 11 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
