Margot Robbie To Play Sharon Tate In Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’
In “didn’t this already happen?” news, it looks like Margot Robbie is officially, for real this time, going to join Quentin Tarantino’s next film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
While Robbie has been thrown around as the person that Tarantino wanted most for the role, dating all the way back to last summer, Deadline is reporting that the actress has entered negotiations and will soon make it a reality. According to reports, Robbie will play actress Sharon Tate in the film, who as many people already know was a victim of the Manson Family back in 1969. While the film is said to include details about the crime, the plot of the story is focused elsewhere.
Robbie is coming off of her award-winning role in “I, Tonya,” as the disgraced figure skating legend Tonya Harding. That role landed Robbie multiple awards and an Oscar nom for Best Actress. She will join Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘Once Upon,’ which is said to follow a former star, Rick Dalton, played by DiCaprio and his longtime stunt double, played by Pitt. The film follows both guys as they try to navigate Hollywood, during Hippy Hollywood, when Dalton’s neighbor Tate is murdered.
Margot Robbie is one of the hottest stars in Hollywood, at the moment. In addition to “I, Tonya,” the actress was recently seen..er, heard…in “Peter Rabbit.” She also has several films in various stages of production, including “Mary Queen of Scots,” “Terminal,” and “Dreamland.” Production on “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is reportedly going to begin this summer, with a 2019 release date.
With Robbie, Pitt, and DiCaprio all cast in the film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is shaping up to be Tarantino’s most high-profile film to date. This also marks the first film that Tarantino is releasing through Sony Pictures, after The Weinstein Company’s apparent collapse following the Harvey Weinstein controversy.
